Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 March, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoev met with a delegation of the US Congress led by Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Mike Rogers.

A wide range of Uzbek-American cooperation was discussed at the meeting, including issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties and developing trade and economic relations.

The parties also exchanged views on the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan to ensure human rights and freedoms, the rule of law, transparency of government administration and the protection of private property.

Particular attention was paid to issues of economic cooperation, including the role of the American-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and the expansion of investment partnerships.

As a result of the dialogue, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
