Certification tests begin for BYD Seagull and E2 electric vehicles

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Certification tests have commenced in Uzbekistan for the BYD Seagull and E2 electric vehicles, Uzavtosanoat said in a statement.

According to Uzavtosanoat, the BYD Uzbekistan Factory has signed agreements with Chinese partners for the production of new BYD vehicle models. The Chinese side has provided the BYD Seagull and E2 electric vehicles, with initial samples already undergoing testing in laboratories.

To conduct the certification tests, models BYD Seagull and E2 have been transferred to the Quality and Safety Testing complex laboratories under the State Enterprise UzTest.

The tests are conducted based on the requirements of the General Technical Regulation and include checks for electromagnetic compatibility, brake system efficiency, internal and external noise levels, heating and cooling systems, handling and stability, lighting systems, and many other indicators.

Additionally, the Agency for Technical Regulation is developing new standards for automobiles offered in the Uzbekistan market. These standards cover service and warranty conditions, compliance with international environmental standards, safety requirements, as well as safe recycling and disposal of car batteries using new energy sources.

At the end of June, the BYD Uzbekistan factory in Jizzakh produced its first mass-produced electric vehicle — the BYD SONG PLUS DM-i CHAMPION.

The factory is gearing up for mass production of BYD passenger vehicles on new energy sources for consumers in Uzbekistan, starting with two of the most popular models: the BYD SONG PLUS DM-i CHAMPION (C-segment SUV) and BYD CHAZOR CHAMPION (sedan). Both vehicles are equipped with BYD’s innovative Super DM-i technology.

In the initial stage, the factory’s production capacity will reach up to 50,000 vehicles per year. The factory’s products will also be exported to Central Asian countries.

The enterprise plans further production expansion. The second stage of the project involves an investment of US$300 million to increase capacity to 200,000 electric vehicles per year. The third stage aims to invest US$500 million and ramp up production to 500,000 electric vehicles annually.

BYD also plans to launch popular models such as the E2, Seagull, and Yuan.
