The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan approved the proposal of the Central Bank to issue coins worth 50, 100, 200 and 500 soums on 17 March.
According to the press service of the upper house of parliament, samples and design of new coins have also been approved.
It should be noted that in 2001 and 2002 the Central Bank had already issued coins worth 50 soums, in 2004 and 2009 - 100 soums and in 2011 - 500 soums. The central bank will issue a coin of 200 soums for the first time.
