Central Bank of Uzbekistan to begin selling 100-gram gold bars

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 17 January 2025, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan will begin selling 100-gram gold bars through commercial banks.

This decision aims to expand the investment and savings opportunities for the population and increase the circulation of precious metals. Previously, the Central Bank had issued gold bars weighing 5, 10, 20, and 50 grams.

The gold bars will be available in special protective packaging that also serves as a certificate. The packaging will include a serial number and provide added security. Information on the cost of the gold bars will be published daily on the Central Bank’s official website in the national currency.

Owners of the gold bars will have the option to sell them back. If the packaging remains intact, the commercial bank will buy it back at the point of sale with immediate payment to the owner. In cases where the packaging is damaged or does not meet technical requirements, the buyback will be conducted only after a technical inspection. Payment will be made once the verification is complete.

Gold bars in their original packaging will be allowed for unrestricted export from Uzbekistan.
