Central Bank of Uzbekistan purchases 34 tons of gold in 2022

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan purchased 34 tons of gold in 2022. This was reported by the World Gold Council (WGC).

Uzbekistan has become the fifth-largest buyer of gold in the world in 2022.

The largest buyer was the Central Bank of Turkey (148 tons). Second place was taken by the People’s Bank of China (60 tons) tons. The third place was taken by Egypt (47 tons).

Kazakhstan became a major seller of gold in 2022 (51 tons). Kazakhstan plans to increase the sale of gold in 2023 as well.

In total, the Central Banks of the world purchased 1,136 tons of gold in 2022. The total demand for gold reached 4741 tons (18%).
