Central Bank of Uzbekistan plans to introduce remote bank card closure

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to implement a system for remotely closing bank cards, Central Bank Chairman Timur Ishmetov announced during a meeting with journalists.

Currently, closing a bank card requires the cardholder to visit a bank branch in person and submit the relevant application, whereas opening a card can be done remotely without visiting the financial institution’s office.

The head of the regulator emphasized that implementing remote card closure poses no technical difficulties. However, before its launch, the system will undergo thorough examination in collaboration with journalists and experts. All aspects of security and regulatory compliance will be carefully addressed to ensure safe and proper operation.
