Central Bank of Uzbekistan becomes the main seller of gold in the world in January

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan became the main seller of gold in January, reducing reserves by 11.5 tons.

World central banks, according to preliminary data, in January 2023 purchased 30.8 tons of gold in gold and foreign exchange reserves. This was reported by Interfax with reference to data from the World Gold Council (WGC).

The largest buyer was Turkey, which increased stocks by 23.3 tons. China bought 14.9 tons, Kazakhstan - 3.9 tons. The European Central Bank reported an increase in gold reserves by 1.9 tons, but this is due to the fact that Croatia officially became a member of the euro area.

The main seller of gold among central banks in January was the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, which reduced its reserves by 11.5 tons.
