Central Asia gas pipeline capacity rise to 24.5 million cubic meters per day
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The shipping capacity of the Central Asia gas pipeline, which pumps gas from as far as Turkmenistan to China, was increased to 24.5 million cubic metres a day as of Wednesday, CNPC said in a company’s newspaper.

The expansion will increase domestic gas supplies in the coming winter-spring season when demand peaks, according to the report in the China Petroleum Daily.

The pipeline’s capacity was scheduled to be increased to 15 billion cubic meters by the end of this year and 30 billion cubic meters by end 2011, the report said.

The pipeline runs nearly 2,000 km through Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan before entering Chinese territory in the northwestern Xinjiang region.
