Central Asia and Europe: on the way to develop cooperation between countries in the field of transport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 11 to 16 June, a business mission of representatives of the ministries of transport of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, organized in cooperation with the USAID Central Asia Trade Program and the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, is taking place in Riga (Latvia).

As part of the event, the possibilities of creating new forms of interaction between road carriers and participants in maritime transport along the multimodal Trans-Caspian corridor are discussed, as well as meetings are organized with representatives of large terminals interested in cooperation with Central Asia.

The event is also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Transport. As the head of the department of the ministry M. Yusupov notes, in 2022 the volume of goods transported from Uzbekistan along the European route amounted to 1.2 million tons, which is 15% more than in 2021. In 2023, an increase in the volume of cargo transportation in this direction by 20% is expected, which indicates the further development of foreign trade cooperation between Uzbekistan and all European countries.

At the end of the event on 16 June, a B2B meeting of members of the Central Asian delegation and Lithuanian entrepreneurs will take place.
