Center for Subject Olympiads to be established in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A Center for Subject Olympiads will be established in Uzbekistan, as outlined in the presidential resolution on "Measures for Further Improvement of the System for Working with Gifted Youth."

According to the resolution, the Center will operate under the Agency for Specialized Educational Institutions.

One of the key tasks of the Center will be to identify and select gifted youth interested in in-depth study of various subjects, as well as to create the necessary conditions for developing their abilities and talents.

Starting in 2025, the Center will begin to form a base of gifted students who excel in competitions for grades 5–8 and will ensure targeted preparation for international olympiads.

Additionally, the Center will develop educational programs, methodological guidelines, manuals, and journals for each subject area. It will also create opportunities for the continuous professional development of trainers and teachers preparing students for subject olympiads by educating them in new methodologies.

The new institution will organize workshops and motivational training for students aimed at overcoming psychological pressure during international competitions. Among the Center’s tasks will be the organization of "intellectual camps" for gifted youth.

According to the resolution, starting from 1 January 2025, a reward system will be implemented for the leaders of national teams participating in prestigious international Olympiads, based on the team’s performance.

Monetary rewards and prizes for students who win regional and national rounds of major subject Olympiads, as well as international competitions, will be exempt from income tax for them, their teachers, and the leaders of the national teams.

By 1 December 2025, an electronic platform will also be created to maintain ongoing statistics on the results of international and domestic subject Olympiads, organize and conduct online olympiads, and create a database of participants.

Furthermore, a special website will be launched to provide information about international subject Olympiads held in Uzbekistan, named after great scholars, ensuring the registration of both domestic and foreign students for participation in these competitions.
