Center for breeding houbaras opens in Bukhara region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Official opening ceremony of Center for breeding rare birds has been held in Bukhara region of Uzbekistan.

The Center is located in Peshku district of Bukhara region. The center is located at 400 hectares of land, which was allocated in line with the decision of the Bukhara regional administration.

Work on construction of the center has been launched in 2006 and it was initiated by State Biologic Control of the State Nature Committee of Uzbekistan. The goal of creation of the center was to preserve rare birds.

Emirates Birds Breeding Center for Conservation was created as NGO. The work on creation of the center was conducted at assistance of the UAE sheikh Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The center employs both local and foreign specialists.

The center has all necessary equipment and tools for breeding houbaras, as well as laboratory and incubator. Bukhara regional nature protection committee controls the activities of the center.

Econews.uz said that currently the center has about 1,000 birds. Since 2011, some 200 birds have been released to nature.
