Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- This year, the next congress of the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) was to be held in Budapest and a new head of the organization was to be elected within the framework of the congress. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event was canceled.
As the organization notes, now the congress will be held in December and online. The current head of AIBA, Mohamed Mustakhsan, sent letters to all National Federations, where he asked them to express their opinion on the holding of the congress in a new format.
“We decided to hold the congress in virtual mode. The congress and voting process will take place on the LUMI platform. Now this program is used by the International Olympic Committee and other leading organizations,” said Mukhamed Mustakhsan.
Suleiman Mikailov (Azerbaijan) and Domingo Solano (Dominican Republic) are running for the post of AIBA head. Also, the number of applicants may increase soon. This could be Umar Kremlev from Russia.
