Forecast figure for January 2011 makes up 55.9 points, which means slightly decrease in Business Activity Index this month, the committee added.

The decrease of the index is connected with seasonality of products in such sectors as consumer goods and construction materials production, healthcare and information systems. The growth was observed in machinery and electrotechnical industry, energy complex, oil-chemical and metallurgy industry.

Business Activity Index in industry sector (APIC 100) was developed in June 2010 and calculated based on survey of 100 large and medium businesses. The APIC 100 replaced the Index APIC 50 (based on survey of 50 enterprises).

The index higher than 50 demonstrates the growth of business activity and general positive trend, lower than 50 shows recession.

The index is calculated based on 5 basic indicators, such as new orders, production volume and realization, employment and ready products at warehouse.
