Between 12 and 16 November around 100 students and professors of the Banking and Finance Academy of Uzbekistan attended workshops and seminars conducted by Dr Ian Crawford (University of Bath) on Audit and Finance and Dr Anthony Pamphilon (London Metropolitan University) on Taxation, British Embassy in Tashkent said.

The seminar on Taxation covered a wide range of taxation issues, including calculations of income tax, corporate taxes, inheritance taxes and tax administration. The Audit and Finance seminar covered audit and accounting in England, corporate finance and risk management.

The visiting lecturers shared British experience and best practice with a view to students gaining a better understanding of how UK systems and practices might be applied in Uzbekistan. At the end of the week, British Ambassador George Edgar, Professor Adham Bekmuradov, the Director of the British Council in Uzbekistan, Steve McNulty and Drs Crawford and Pamphilon presented students with certificates to record their successful completion of the training seminars.

In addition to the lectures and workshops at the BFA, the British lecturers also provided half day lectures on taxation and audit for students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and the Academy of State and Social Construction under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
