Katherine Tetley arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in roundtable and training dedicated to development of tourism and studying experience of researching labour market and developing skills, necessary for tourism.

A special working group in Uzbekistan will develop a curriculum and programme, which will be implemented at tourism colleges in the country. Katherine Tetley visited the Republican scientific-educational consulting center of Uzbektourism and studied its activities.

Katherine Tetley said she is satisfied with her visit to Uzbekistan. She said that she arrived in Uzbekistan to participate a project on the British Council on development of tourism in Uzbekistan. She noted that she shared experience of Great Britain in developing tourism. She said that she want to propose to create in Uzbekistan an organization, which would carry out market research and create educational standards for tourism sector.

British expert said that during her visit to Uzbekistan she was surrounded with hospital people and they were interested in British experience. She expressed hope that Uzbekistan will see concrete results soon. She underlined that it is important that all interest organizations should work together and employers’ need should be taken into account.

She also praised efforts of Uzbekistan directed at improving skills of young people through seminars and trainings. She noted that educated people will be useful for development of tourism sphere and it will help to generate serious income for economy.
