On 13 November Ambassador Edgar visited British companies operating in the Samarkand region to learn more about their activities and the development of their operations in Uzbekistan.

Ambassador Edgar also met local officials including Mr Rakhimov, Deputy Governor for Economic Issues of the Samarkand region, and Mr Akramov, the head of the local Chamber of Commerce to discuss trade and investment opportunities in the region.

The meeting highlighted the possibilities for further investment by British companies in a range of sectors of the local economy, including tourism, agriculture, energy and light industry.
