Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A schoolboy died in Tashkent after being crushed by falling football goalposts.

The incident occurred on 27 September at School No. 134 in the Almazar district.

A 17-year-old student from School No. 133 went to the sports ground of his school with classmates to play football.

After the game, the teenager decided to do pull-ups on the goalpost, but it toppled over, causing him to fall on his back, after which the heavy structure collapsed on him.

Witnesses immediately called an ambulance and lifted the goalposts off the injured boy.

Paramedics arrived 40 minutes later. The schoolboy was transported to the Tashkent Pediatric Institute, but despite the doctors’ efforts, he passed away in the intensive care unit at 11:45 PM from closed abdominal injury, liver rupture, internal bleeding, and traumatic shock.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.
