The book highlights Uzbekistan’s rich literary legacy and features works by eminent Uzbek men of letters.

The Uzbek nation’s written and oral legacy that dates back centuries is linked with their historical memory. Linking generations and epochs, they remain strong media of fostering ethical and spiritual norms not only for the Uzbek nation but also other nations worldwide.

The Aroma of Blooming Roses, as the book translates into English, is a compilation of notable works that reveal the world outlook of the Uzbek nation and their spiritual values. The book provides national songs of various themes, dastans, fairytales, proverbs, sayings as well as poems by Alisher Navoi.

“I should say that this volume, dedicated to the literary endeavors of the Uzbek nation, has several highlights,” says Georgiy Pryahin, the director of Khudozhestvennaya Literatura Publishing House. “This is the first time that our publishing house, one of the biggest in the Russian Federation, has brought out Uzbek folklore in Russian in such a sizeable compilation. This book also features many diverse works translated into Russian by contemporary poets and writers. This publication is unique in that it helps to understand the spirit of the Uzbek nation as a whole. Moreover, it contains amazing images of miniatures dating from the 15th century. The presentation of the book is set to be held at various locations across Moscow.
