According to the French embassy, the book was published within the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and France.

The book is a model of book on creator of unique museum in Karakalpakstan. Soon the book will be available at Nukus museum.

The embassy said that the book will allow to understand better works and role of Savitsky, and his museum, which is visited by thousand French tourists each year.

For over half a century, the Nukus Museum named after I.V. Savitsky has been keeping the second largest collection of Russian avant-garde art of the 20th century.

The museum was named after its founder, artist and ethnographer Igor Savitsky, who had been collecting unique pieces of art all over the Soviet Union for 17 years. Along with avant-garde, Savitsky Art Museum also has the samples of Uzbekistan’s fine art, applied art of Karakalpakstan, the art of ancient Khorezm, added by amazing copies of Louvre’s exhibits.

Igor Vitalyevich Savitsky was a Russian painter, archeologist and collector, especially of avant-garde art. He single-handedly founded the State Art Museum of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, named after I.V. Savitsky, an art museum based in Nukus, Uzbekistan.
