BMB Holding launches new saffron processing plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — BMB Holding has launched a new facility for saffron drying and processing in Uzbekistan.

The plant, BMB Za’faron, is located in the Bahmal district of Jizzakh region and boasts the largest saffron plantation in Central Asia. Under the brand BMB Za’faron, the company currently produces around 20 types of saffron-based products.

The project, aimed at expanding saffron plantations and establishing drying and processing facilities, is valued at 120 million euros. Of this amount, 70 million euros come from direct foreign investment, 37 million euros are the holding’s own funds, and 13 million euros are sourced through loans.

To date, 60.8 million euros have been invested into the project. In addition, the holding invested 5 billion soums to lay 2.5 km of concrete roads and install 25-30 km of power lines, significantly benefiting the local economy and infrastructure.

This year, in collaboration with Polish specialists, the plantation has also begun using AgroNanoGel, a hydrogel product that reduces water consumption in saffron cultivation, which will be promoted following trials. This technology is expected to benefit the agricultural sector by optimizing water use.
