Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Blackmail of money under the threat of dissemination of information discrediting a person is classified as extortion.

In accordance with the amendments and additions made by the Law to the Criminal Code:

Now, destruction, modification, seizure or blocking of the victim’s information resources, extortion of property under the threat of dissemination of information discrediting the victim, is also classified as extortion and entails criminal liability.

Illegal acquisition, sale or exchange of crypto-assets, activities of service providers in the field of circulation of crypto-assets without obtaining a license in the prescribed manner, or carrying out transactions with anonymous crypto-assets by service providers in the field of circulation of crypto-assets, committed after the application of an administrative penalty for same actions may entail one of the following penalties:

fine up to 100 sizes of basic estimated value;

correctional labor from 2 to 3 years;

restriction of freedom up to 1 year;

imprisonment for up to 1 year.

Engaging in mining of anonymous crypto-assets or carrying out mining in violation of the established procedure, committed after the application of an administrative penalty for the same actions, may entail one of the following penalties:

fine up to 100 sizes of basic estimated value;

correctional labor from 2 to 3 years;

restriction of freedom up to 1 year;

imprisonment for up to 1 year.

Also, carrying out hidden mining is punishable by a fine of 100 to 300 sizes of basic estimated value or restriction of liberty for up to 2 years or imprisonment for up to 2 years.
