Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Most recently, the Better Work program was officially launched in Uzbekistan, through the signing on 30 May 2023 of a Memorandum of Understanding between the ILO, IFC, the Employers’ Confederation of Uzbekistan (CRU), the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment, and also by the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan during the 2nd International Conference on the sidelines of the Tashkent Textile Week.

Following the signing of the Memorandum, on 13 June, a bilateral meeting of the CRU with the mission of the Better Work program was held in the ILO office building, at which the parties discussed further steps to implement the program. In particular, the following stages were identified in the implementation of the program in Uzbekistan, such as:

Deepening cooperation in the field of interaction with brands, bringing to the international business community positive results in the implementation of the Better Work program in Uzbekistan.

Study of successful practices in the field of production according to Better Work standards in advanced partner countries (Bangladesh, Vietnam, Haiti, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Cambodia, Nicaragua and Ethiopia).

Organization of practical workshops for textile companies and clusters on the implementation of the best international practices used by the program.
