Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 2 November, professional boxer from Uzbekistan, Bektemir Melikuziev (15-1, 10 KOs), secured a victory over American David Stevens (14-2, 10 KOs) at a Golden Boy boxing event in Las Vegas.
The 24-year-old Stevens started the fight at a high pace, applying significant pressure. However, the 28-year-old Melikuziev held his ground, responding with powerful left-handed punches.
In the early rounds, Stevens seemed to have the upper hand, but by the eighth round, Melikuziev regained control and began to dominate with a more assertive approach. Both fighters continued exchanging punches, focusing on body shots.
During the tenth and eleventh rounds, Melikuziev took full command of the fight, attacking confidently with his left and maintaining control until the final bell.
After twelve rounds, the judges reached a split decision: 118-110 and 117-111 in favor of Melikuziev, while one judge scored it 116-112 for Stevens.
This bout served as a WBA super middleweight eliminator match.
