Beijing hosts the SCO Conference on the Development of Medical and Pharmaceutical Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Beijing hosted the SCO Conference on the Development of Medical and Pharmaceutical Cooperation. The event was organized by the China Committee of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation together with the SCO Secretariat, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China and the China Pharmaceutical Innovation and Research Association.

Representing an important platform for expanding and strengthening exchanges between the SCO countries on pharmaceutical and medical issues, the conference became the first special conference within the framework of the organization to develop cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals and medicine, which is of great importance for strengthening cooperation relations within the SCO in the future.

At the conference under the motto "Strengthening Pharmaceutical Cooperation for the Sake of General Health", SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, Deputy Chairman of the SCO Committee on Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation of the SCO Cui Li, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Farhod Arziev and Executive President of the China Association for Pharmaceutical Innovations and Scientific R&D by Song Ruilin delivered the speeches. The heads of the competent authorities for the regulation and control of pharmaceuticals and health care of the SCO countries also took part online. Representatives of diplomatic missions of more than the SCO countries in China, in particular Russia, Pakistan, Belarus, Mongolia, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Turkmenistan took part offline.

During the conference, representatives of the relevant health and drug regulatory authorities of the SCO countries and senior diplomats of embassies in China made thematic presentations in a hybrid format, familiarized the audience with the current state of development and government regulatory policy in the countries in the field of pharmaceuticals.

First Deputy Director of the Agency for the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Egamov presented the potential and promising areas of the pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan.

The conference participants unanimously declared their readiness to continue work on building a platform for exchanges and intersectoral cooperation within the framework of the SCO, Dunyo reported.

Yang Xiaoming, Chairman of the Board of China Biologics, Liu Dianboi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Luye Life Science Group, and Wang Jiang, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Betta Pharmaceutical, were invited to a special discussion session of the conference to discuss issues related to pharmaceutical cooperation between the SCO countries. In terms of the current state of development of innovative and research developments in pharmaceuticals and the formation of an adequate state support policy, the participants reached a consensus on a wide range of issues, focusing on strengthening international cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry and promoting mutual recognition of drug surveillance within the SCO.

As a result of the conference, the parties announced the "Initiative for the Development of Medical and Pharmaceutical Cooperation", which declared the readiness of the parties to strengthen exchange and cooperation in the field of regulation and control in the pharmaceutical industry, to develop effective models for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in research.

The participants agreed that in order to promote the comprehensive development of the pharmaceutical industry in the SCO countries, building a platform for cooperation and exchange between regulators within the SCO will be of great importance. All parties must actively strive to deepen global health cooperation, improve the health and well-being of our peoples for the sake of a common bright, healthy future for humanity as a whole.
