Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 20 June, Beijing has expanded its ability to test daily for COVID-19 from 100,000 samples to over 230,000 to contain the growth of new cases of localized COVID-19 infection, Xinhua reports.

The number of specialized institutions for conducting coronavirus nucleic acid tests last week increased from 98 to 124, spokesman for the Beijing Health Committee Gao Xiaojun said at a press conference on Sunday.

Among these institutions are 20 disease prevention and control centers, 73 hospitals and 31 medical laboratories, he said.

From 13 June, people working in the Xinfadi wholesale agricultural market, which was associated with most newly reported cases of the disease and people living in its neighborhoods, as well as those who visited it, were sent to sampling points for analysis on COVID -nineteen.

The city authorities gave priority to testing employees of restaurants, shops and wholesale markets, as well as employees of courier services and food delivery companies.

From 11 June, more than 200 confirmed local cases of COVID-19 infection have been detected in Beijing.
