Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan issued a resolution on 29 May 2012, which introduces changes and amendments to some decision of the government.

In line with the resolution, beer, except alcohol-free beer, is equated to alcohol products.

According to the document, only legal entities, which possess permission to realize alcohol products, can sell beer (except alcohol-free beer).

Earlier, beer was low alcohol drink and the rules on realization of alcohol drinks did not applied to beer, except the requirement on location of the enterprises. In line with the Uzbek laws, the trade enterprises, which sell alcohol, should be located at least 500 meters far from educational and religious establishments.
