Beeline Uzbekistan connects Tashkent and Samarkand with a "hyper-speed" channel

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 March, Veon Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu met with Sherzod Shermatov, Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting was attended by CEO of Beeline Uzbekistan Andrzej Malinowski and co-founder and honorary chairman of the Board of Directors of VEON Ogi Fabela.

Within the framework of the meeting, a solemn launch of the modernized transport channel took place. He began to transfer subscriber traffic between Tashkent and Samarkand at a speed of 600 Gbps, which will positively affect all users of the operator’s mobile services. In the history of Beeline Uzbekistan, this is the first channel with such a capacity.

In 2022, the project for the modernization of backbone fiber optic networks will cover several major cities in the country. The speed of data exchange will be increased on the line Tashkent - Gulistan - Jizzakh - Samarkand. Moreover, each of the cities is directly connected to the Beeline Uzbekistan Data Processing Center (DPC) in the capital. This technical solution based on the new NG-WDM platform from Huawei provides greater channel security, as well as guaranteed high data transfer rates.

Modernization of the backbone network will have a positive impact on each user of Beeline services. Thus, traffic going to Samarkand will not stop at intermediate stations. This means that when making long-distance calls, the connection delay will be minimal. A speed of 600 Gb / s will allow subscribers to simultaneously watch more than 600,000 online HD videos or listen to about 2.5 million musical compositions on the Web. The operator himself, thanks to the increase in the capacity of the main channels, will be able to launch about 300 additional base stations and provide even denser coverage of the territory of Uzbekistan.

“It is important that today’s modernization lays the foundation for future updates in the interests of Beeline customers. The NG-WDM technology used on the Tashkent-Samarkand line will, in the near future, make it possible to multiply the volume of data transfer - they will be measured in petabytes,” says Andrzej Malinowski, CEO of Beeline Uzbekistan.
