Beeline still largest communication operator in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Communication Beeline will keep its leadership in the market of Uzbekistan in the result of 2013.

TeliaSonera, which owns mobile communication operator Ucell, published its financial results for 2013. Vimpelcom (Beeline trademark in Uzbekistan) will announce its financial results on 6 March 2014, it can be stated that Beeline will keep its leadership in the market of Uzbekistan on number of subscribers and the volume of revenue.

According to TeliaSonera, the subscriber base of Ucell made up 8.47 million users in 2013 and net revenue reached about US$478.163 million.

At the same time, net operational revenue of Beeline in Uzbekistan made up US$500 million in nine months of 2013, while the subscribers base – 10.328 million. Beeline will announce its results for 2013 within a month, but the market share of the operators will remain unchanged.

Beeline provided services to 10.194 million people in 2012, while Ucell had 9.475 million users. Revenue of Beeline was US$463 million, while Ucell - $373 million.

There are also two CDMA operators in Uzbekistan – Uzmobile (subsidiary of Uzbektelecom) and PerfectumMobile (Rubicon Wireless Communication). They do not disclose data on number of subscribers and revenue. According to data the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, announced in December 2013, there are over 19 million mobile communication users in Uzbekistan.

Taking into account that large number of population in Uzbekistan use services of GSM operators, the users hope that they will continue their investments to development of network and infrastructure to improve communication service. We also hope that Beeline and Ucell will start to provide services based on LTE (4G) technologies and the users will have chance to enjoy high speed Internet. Let’s recall that the first LTE base stations were installed in Uzbekistan two years ago.
