Today, Beeline is one of the leaders of the telecommunication sector of Uzbekistan. Since Russia’s Vimpelcom acquired Unitel LLC, its subscribers base rose almost 25 times and exceeded 10.2 million at the end of the second quarter of 2013.
Andrei Safronyuk, Unitel Director-General, said that the capital expenses of the company in Uzbekistan made up about US$1 billion in seven years. He said that the company continues to expand investments to modernization and construction of its network, which is directed to improve quality of services.
Safronyuk stated that the priority of the company for this and next years is to increase capacity of current equipment and expand coverage area. He said that it will help to make step forward in technologic development of the sector – to introduce LTE standard.
Beeline became the first operator in Uzbekistan, which introduced 3G network. It offers internet services via EDGE (2,5G), UMTS (3G), HSDPA (3,5G), HSPA+ (3,75G) to ADSL and FTTB technologies. Currently, Beeline’s 3G network covers 139 settlements and the service is available for 52% of population.
Beeline is cooperating with large enterprises of Uzbekistan, including Uzbekistan Havo Yollari, General Motors Uzbekistan, Nestle Uzbekistan, O’ztransgaz, Maxam-Chirchiq, Petronas Overseas, Lukoil and others.
Beeline is one of the largest tax payers of Uzbekistan as it paid over 537 billion soums in 2006-2012.
