Public organizations functioning on the territory of Uzbekistan have been joined by a new institution, the Association of Beekeepers of Uzbekistan, UzA reported.
The goal aimed at by the new establishment is the development of beekeeping in the country, growth of the volume of exports, improvement of the qualifications and the level of preparedness of the industry’s specialists, and protection of their rights and interests.
According to the President of the Association Sarvar Islamhojaev, a major part of honey produced in the country comes from Navoi, Samarkand, Jizzakh, Tashkent, Ferghana, and Namangan regions.
Wild flower honey produced in Zaamin and Bahmal foothills is well known for its medicinal qualities. About 50 beekeepers work in this area annually supplying consumers over 35 tonnes of healthy product.
About 600 people in Tashkent are engaged in beekeeping. Every one of them has on average 50-100 hives. Last year, over 400 tonnes of honey was produced in Tashkent and Tashkent region. Honey festivals were organised on the markets of the city several times.
For fuller satisfaction of the population’s demand for honey and other products of beekeeping, new association will direct its efforts toward increasing the volumes of production and improving the quality of products.
