Banking service availability level is high in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Level of banking service availability makes up 49.5 banking establishments per 100,000 adult population of Uzbekistan, according to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan. At the same time, according to international measures, 30 banks per 100,000 persons is high figure.

Local banking system leads also on number of accounts, opened by individuals at banks. The figure makes up 1,025 accounts per 1,000 persons (over 1,000 is counted as high figure).

In 2011, Uzbekistan introduced mechanism on quarterly assessment of financing conditions and sustainability of commercial banks, based on international assessment systems.

According to financial analysts, the level of capital adequacy of the banking system makes up 24.1%, which is twice higher than international standards.

International rating agency Moody’s affirmed the outlook of the banking system as stable for two years in a row, while Standard and Poor’s raised rating by one notch in November 2011.

The mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that substantial increases in bank capitalization contributed to the stability of the banking sector and are facilitating the authorities’ development programs.

Uzbekistan plans to receive country rating from leading international rating agency by 2013 in line with the presidential resolution “On priority directions of reforming and increasing sustainability of financial-banking system of Uzbekistan for 2011-2015 and achieving high international ratings”.
