Azizbek Urunov Discusses Strengthening Trade Dialogue with the EU with Dr. Sabine Weyand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An online meeting took place between Azizbek Urunov, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan on WTO matters, and Dr. Sabine Weyand, Director-General for Trade and Economic Security of the European Commission.

According to Urunov, the discussion was constructive and marked another step in advancing Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization, as well as strengthening the bilateral dialogue with the European Union.

“I highly appreciate the professionalism and clarity that Dr. Weyand brings to complex negotiations, and I am proud that Uzbekistan is steadily moving toward transparent, predictable, and WTO-compliant trade relations,” said Urunov.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening an open, rules-based trading system that benefits not only Uzbekistan and the EU but also the global community as a whole.
