Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has always been close to Azerbaijan. This opinion was shared by the Chairman of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations of Azerbaijan (TsAMO) Farid Shafiyev at the round table, held on 14 June in Baku, dedicated to the Azerbaijani-Uzbek relations and the upcoming early presidential elections in Uzbekistan.

The expert emphasized the high level of Azerbaijani-Uzbek relations. “For Azerbaijan, the countries of Central Asia have always been among the priorities in foreign policy. I would like to note that last year President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the countries of Central Asia 3 times. Uzbekistan has always been close to Azerbaijan and currently supports the normalization of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations,” he said.

The event was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov and other officials.
