Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Azerbaijani authorities extended the special quarantine regime in the country until 1 January 2022. The corresponding decision was signed on Friday by Prime Minister Ali Asadov, TASS reports.
"In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the country and its possible consequences, extend the period of validity of the special quarantine regime in the Republic of Azerbaijan until 06:00 on 1 January 2022," reads the text of the document published on the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic.
The special quarantine regime in the country expires on 1 November.
All current restrictions remain in force, in particular, memorial ceremonies are prohibited, a limited number of guests are allowed at weddings and other celebrations, and participants in all such events are allowed at the ceremony only if they have vaccination certificates, a certificate of transferred COVID-19 or a document. confirming medical contraindications for vaccination. Similar requirements apply to visitors to shopping and entertainment centers, cinemas and catering facilities. The mandatory wearing of masks on public transport and indoors is still in force.
The first case of coronavirus infection in Azerbaijan was registered on 28 February 2020. The first peak of the epidemic occurred in June (up to 600 cases per day), the second - in November and December (on average from 3.5 to 4 thousand cases), the third - in April of this year (from 2 to 2.5 thousand cases ). The daily maximum - 4,451 cases - was recorded on 13 December 2020. Since the beginning of May this year, there has been a gradual decrease in daily growth. However, in recent weeks, an increase in the number of infections has again been recorded. As of 28 October, 2,420 infections were registered, 29 infected have died. In total, during the pandemic in Azerbaijan, 524 788 cases of infection were confirmed, 489 032 people recovered, 6 995 died.
Since 18 January, the country has been vaccinating the population. As of 28 October, a total of 5.15 million people have been vaccinated in Azerbaijan - more than 51% of the population. At the same time, about 4.4 million people have already received both doses of the vaccine. Vaccination is carried out with CoronaVac of the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech, the Russian Sputnik V, as well as Vaxzevria of the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca and Pfizer.
