Attempts to Bribe Police Officers Foiled in Tashkent and Other Regions
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Tashkent and two other regions of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has intercepted several attempts to bribe law enforcement officers, the MIA press service reported.
In the capital, a driver of an Onix vehicle was detained for offering a $500 bribe to an officer of the Road Patrol Service.
In Fergana region, attempts were recorded to bribe a preventive inspector with $1,000 and a traffic police officer with US$800.
In Surkhandarya region, a citizen previously penalized for driving under the influence was caught trying to give a traffic police officer 3 million soums.
The MIA emphasized that detecting and preventing such offenses is part of systematic efforts to fight corruption and ensure road law compliance.
