Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement agencies conducted an operation in the Zangiata district of Tashkent region, according to Uzbekistan’s State Security Service.
During the operation, authorities stopped and searched a Spark vehicle driven by the senior assistant prosecutor of the Syrdarya region.
A procedural inspection of the vehicle revealed 50 packs of the potent pharmaceutical Zardex, which were immediately confiscated.
Further investigative efforts led to the detention of a 27-year-old resident of Bulungur district, Samarkand region, in Tashkent. This individual had supplied the confiscated drugs. An additional 300 packs of Zardex were seized from him as material evidence.
Officials reported that the seized medications had been illegally smuggled into Uzbekistan from the Kyrgyz Republic.
Preliminary investigations into the case are ongoing.
