Asian Rowing and Canoe championship ends in Samarkand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Fifteenth Asian Rowing and Canoe championship ended in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Athletes from Uzbekistan claimed the first place in general teams classification with 45 medals.

About 500 athletes from 20 Asian countries participated at the event.

Uzbekistan won 15 gold, 15 silver and 15 bronze medals at the tournament and clinched the first place in general teams classification. Kazakhstan and Iran were the second and third respectively.

Vadim Menkov, Aleksey Mochalov, Serik Mirbekov, Gerasim Kochnev, Yuliya Tsoy, Ekaterina Zarkova, Artur Guliev, Temur Haydarov, Temur Mamarozikov, Vladislar Parofeev and Sergey Buhaltsev contributed to the success of Uzbek team.

The competition among Paralympic athletes were also held within the tournament. Usmat Kestan from Uzbekistan won the gold medal, while Uktam Gaybullaev clinched the silver medal.

On 13-17 December 2013, Samarkand rowing channel will host the next Asian Rowing Championship.
