Art Week Style.uz – 2012 kicks off in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Opening ceremony of Art Week Style.uz – 2012 k has been held in Tashkent at the Youth Creative Palace on 4 October 2012.

The opening ceremony for the Art Week was attended by the participants of the ongoing Second Tashkent International Cinema Forum ‘Golden Guepard’, members of the jury Nik Powell, Philipp Bergson, Thomas Mauch along with the many international participants of Theatre.UZ international festival, Uzbek art professionals and hundreds of young art aficionados.

Opening the ceremony, Chairperson of Trustee Council of Fund Forum Gulnara Karimova said that six year ago Art Week Style.uz started with three fashion shows.

She said that this year Art Week Style.uz will host 28 events and 4,000 guests will attend them.

Gulnara Karimova stated that over 100,000 people are expected to visit events within Art Week Style.uz-2012. She said that last year the organizers expected 12,000 visitors, but over 60,000 people visited Art Week Style.uz.

The first major exhibition that welcomed those gathered is the 6th Tashkent International Photo Biennale.

The photo art show included sections of works by prominent photographers such as Max Penson (early 20th century), whose creations reflect changes in Uzbekistan in retrospect, and contemporary photographer Paolo Roversi of France, who is one of the world’s most sought-after professionals. Visitors also had the opportunity to view works by contemporary French artist Tran Trong Vu and a special collaborative project by Fund Forum and Alikhan Photography titled “Generations Pass, Traditions Remain”.

Representatives of London College of Fashion (UK) conducted master-class title “Craft and Creativity”. During the master-class, students and teachers of London College of Fashion shared their experience.
