Art & Culture Development Foundation and Cambridge University Press sign a memorandum of understanding

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Art & Culture Development Foundation under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Cambridge University Press signed a memorandum of understanding.

The activities of the Cambridge University Press will be aimed at the development of culture and art through educational and scientific projects and activities. Cooperation with the UK’s oldest publishing house and the Foundation will include activities aimed at educational reform, namely the development of teacher training and curricula, the development of high-quality teaching materials.

Cooperation begins with preparation for the exhibition "Civilization and Culture on the Silk Road", which will be held at the Louvre Museum in 2021. The book “Civilizations, States and Cultures of Central Asia” will be published jointly with the Cambridge University Press (Ed. Rtveladze, historian-archaeologist, doctor of historical sciences, professor, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, foreign member of the Academy of Sciences of Georgia.

The ceremony of signing a memorandum of understanding from the Cambridge University Press was attended by Annie Mikhailid, Head of the International Development Department of the Publishing House and Lewis Birchon, Head of the Publishing and Research Department of the Publishing House.

Lewis Birchon said: “The best way to understand the country’s heritage and history is to get acquainted with its culture. Our cooperation will be an important step towards increasing the international recognition of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. ”

Annie Michaelid said: “It’s an honor for us that the Cambridge University Publishing House together with the Foundation will work to promote the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, a country with a great history. It is important for us that the Foundation shares our vision in terms of developing the potential and improving education in Uzbekistan, in particular, in the development of artistic and cultural education in Uzbekistan. ”

Gayane Umerova, Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, said: “We are very pleased to start cooperation with the Cambridge University Press and hope this will help us to achieve a common goal - to promote and preserve the cultural and artistic heritage of Uzbekistan. We think that this partnership will be the key that will open our country to the whole world. ”
