Around 60% of university graduates have yet to find employment

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Nearly 60% of university graduates have not yet been able to find employment, according to Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan Behzod Musayev.

In his report to the Legislative Chamber, the minister discussed the current state of employment for graduates of higher education institutions in 2024.

Musayev stated that 41% (or 88,000 out of 214,000) of this year’s graduates have already been employed through the unified national employment system based on labor contracts.

However, 59% (or 126,000) of young specialists are still without work.

According to Musayev, an analysis showed that 95,000 graduates could potentially be employed in the 102,000 available job vacancies.

The minister emphasized that in August and September, efforts will be organized to find employment for each graduate, taking into account their place of residence, and in coordination with regional and city employment services.

According to the Ministry of Employment, there are currently 358,000 registered job vacancies in 139,000 organizations across the country, with 81,000 positions offered by state institutions and 277,000 by the private sector. Additionally, 112,000 of these vacancies require higher education qualifications.
