Ardus to represent Uzbekistan in AFC Futsal Club Championship
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Four-time Uzbekistan futsal champions Ardus Tashkent will participate in the second edition of the AFC Futsal Club Championship in 2011.

But before that Tashkent club should participate in preliminary round, which will be held in the beginning of 2011. The venue and time for preliminary and final round will be determined soon.

As per the decision of the AFC Futsal Committee at its recent meeting on May 30, 2010, the top three placed countries in the previous edition of the AFC Futsal Club Championship - Iran, Qatar and Japan, plus the host country of the Finals in 2011, will be given a direct entry into the tournament proper.

If any of the top three countries is selected as hosts, the fourth placed team from AFC Futsal Club Championship 2010 will be the replacement.

As Iran and Qatar are bidding to be the host for the Finals, Thailand will get utomatic bye to the Final Round.

Selection format for the remaining four teams for the eight-team Finals is yet to be decided.

In the Finals, eight teams will be divided into two groups of four and top teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The draw for the qualification round will be held during the second week of December 2010.

The first edition of the AFC Futsal Club Championship was held in Iran in 2010. Uzbekistan was represented by Stroitel Zarafshan. Young Uzbek team could not qualify from the Group and took the last fourth place.

Ardus has experience of participation in international arena. Ardus claimed silver medals of 2006 unofficial Asian Champions League.
