Arab Terminals Holding starts preparing a development strategy for Navoi Airport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Terminals Holding Sole Proprietorship visits Navoi International Airport to get acquainted with the infrastructure and work process of the cargo terminal.

At the end of November, an agreement was signed between Uzbekistan Airports and Terminals Holding on the transfer to the management of the cargo terminal of Navoi International Airport. The goal is to combine joint resources for the development of the Navoi airport cargo hub, using modern technologies and investments offered by Terminals Holding. The agreements reached were preceded by two years of negotiations from the moment when the company from the UAE expressed interest in the project.

These days, representatives of Terminals Holding visited the cargo terminal of the Navoi airport, got acquainted with the infrastructure, available special equipment and equipment in warehouses, studied the process of processing imported goods and interaction with customs authorities, and began to study the legislation of Uzbekistan related to the sphere of cargo transportation. Based on the results of the analysis, the company’s specialists will draw up a strategy for the development of the cargo hub and a forecast for promising routes for cargo flights.

It should be noted that the cargo terminal of Navoi International Airport was built in 2008 as part of an agreement between the National Airline Uzbekistan Airways and Korean Air. The agreement was valid until 2019. In 2022, Uzbekistan Airports carried out the reconstruction of the cargo terminal and purchased special equipment. Currently, Navoi Airport receives about 40 cargo flights per month, including those carrying out tech stops, transportation of transfer, import and export cargo. Among the companies flying to Navoi airport are MNG Kargo, Turkish Airlines, Silk Way. At the end of 2022, 18.6 thousand tons of cargo were transported through the Navoi airport.
