Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Musa and Uzbek Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Norov signed Wednesday, 18 April, a Memorandum of understanding between the two countries.

In statements on Wednesday, Musa said the memorandum would help open the door to further cooperation, noting that Uzbekistan enjoys strong relations with the Arab world.  

For his part, Norov expressed appreciation and respect of the AL and Musa, hailing the role played by him in boosting cooperation between the AL and Uzbekistan.  

Norov said that Uzbek President Islam Karimov is keen on promoting relations with the AL, pointing out that his visit to the AL for talks with Musa and other senior officials mirrors the depth of relations between the two sides.
