The meeting was held at headquarter of the UN World Tourism Organization, the press service of the State Tourism Committee said.

During negotiations, the sides discussed issues of further expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UNWTO on various directions.

Rifai said that he is informed about measures, adopted by the Uzbek Government, directed at developing tourism. He noted that the Uzbek leader pays serious attention to development of tourism sector.

UNWTO chief said that the organization plans to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan within political and technical assistance in the tourism sphere. He said that UNWTO is ready to render assistance to organize trainings for specialists in marketing and certification.

Taleb Rifai supported the proposal of the Uzbek side on organization of various events to promote tourism potential of Uzbekistan and Great Silk Road in 2017.

Anvar Sharapov officially invited the UNWTO Secretary-General to participate in the international tourism exhibition “World of Leisure”, which will be held in Tashkent in April 2017.
