The negotiations were held at the sidelines of International Tourism Exhibition FITUR-2017, the press service of the State Tourism Committee said.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation and promoting tourism potential of Uzbekistan in Malaysian market.
Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz proposed to consider organization of “small hajj” to Uzbekistan for Muslim people from Malaysia.
He said that each year, about 250,000 Muslims of Malaysia perform hajj and umrah pilgrimage.
Taking into account great potential of Bukhara, Samarkand, Tashkent and Shakhrisabz, many relics of the Muslim world, the mausoleums of prominent scientists and educators of Islamic civilization, can be profitable and can lead to a significant increase in the flow of tourists from Malaysia to Uzbekistan.
Anvar Sharapov invited the Minister of Tourism and Culture of Malaysia Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz to participate in International exhibition “World of Leisure”, which will be held in Tashkent on 13-14 April 2017.
Within the event, it is planned to discuss organizational issues of pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan.
