Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Today, on 30 June , UN Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Uzbekistan at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The high-ranking guest was welcomed at Tashkent International Airport by Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and other officials.

After a brief conversation, António Guterres proceeded to his next destination as part of his visit’s program.

During the day, a flower-laying ceremony at the Independence Monument in New Uzbekistan Park and a visit to the Hazrati Imam Complex are planned.

In Tashkent, high-level talks are scheduled to discuss the expansion and strengthening of Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the UN and its institutions. The talks will also cover current issues of global politics and regional interaction.

Special attention will be given to supporting measures to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in Uzbekistan.

During his visit, Guterres will tour various industrial and social facilities and hold bilateral meetings and events.
