Central Asia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Large-scale special and tactical drills have been held in Tashkent Region’s Bekobod District, according to an action plan on fighting international terrorism. During the drills, complex measures were worked out to thwart a terror attack on an industrial facility.

The Uzmetkombinat [Uzbek metal plant] joint-stock company was chosen as a target of simulated terror attacks.

The National Security Service, the interior, emergency situations, defence and health ministries, the Prosecutor-General’s Office and executive agencies were involved in the drills. According to the scenario, three groups of conditional terrorists attempt to illegally cross the state border. During shootings, border guards eliminated the two groups and detained three terrorists.

The third group of terrorists seized two vehicles and headed to Uzmetkombinat. After shooting with guards, the terrorists managed to enter the plant. They seized the building, blocked all entries and took plant workers hostage.

Conditional terrorists demand money and vehicle threatening to kill the hostages; however the law-enforcers manage to free hostages and eliminate terrorists.
