Andijan region records highest growth of industrial output in 1H
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Andijan region recorded the highest growth of industrial output in January-June 2009, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said. The region posted 16.9% growth of industrial output in the reporting period.

Kashkadarya region followed Andijan region with the industrial output growth of 16.5% in the first half of 2008.

Samarkand region’s industrial output grew by 15.9% in January-June 2009, which was the third highest figure in the reporting period.

Industrial output of Khorezm region fell by 6% in January-June 2009, which is the lowest figure in the country in the first six months of 2009. Navoi and Bukhara regions posted 1.3% and 1.4% growth of industrial production respectively in the reporting period.

In money terms, Tashkent city has the largest industrial production in the reporting period. The capital city of Uzbekistan produced industrial goods for 2.062 trillion soums, which grew by 13.7%.

Kashkadarya region was the second with the 1.995 trillion soums and Tashkent region was the third with 1.596 trillion soums in the reporting period.

Sydarya region had the lowest industrial production - 168.9 billion soums and it was followed by Jizzakh region - 170.9 billion soums and Karakalpakstan Republic - 175.6 billion soums.

Industrial output of Uzbekistan grew by 9.1% year-on-year in January-June 2009 to 13.265 trillion soums.
