Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An employee of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade (MIPT) was detained in Samarkand on suspicion of taking a bribe. This was reported by the press service of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan.

He promised to help the citizen move to the United States with the help of “friends at the US Embassy.” He demanded US$14,000 for providing the service.

Law enforcement agencies detained an MIPT employee in the process of obtaining US$10,000.

A criminal case has been opened regarding this incident in accordance with the relevant article of the Criminal Code, and an investigation is underway.
