An international scientific and practical conference on tourism development was held in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An international scientific-practical conference on the theme “The main directions of development of the tourism industry in the context of globalization of the world economy” was organized by the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the Development of Tourism and the Tashkent State University of Economics.

The conference was attended by over 50 scientists, practitioners, representatives of Uzbekistan, Turkey, Russia and Germany, as well as representatives of international organizations. The relevance of the international conference is determined by the constant attention of the government in this area.

In 2019, important documents were adopted in the tourism sector, in particular, resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Additional Measures for the Accelerated Development of Tourism in the Republic of Uzbekistan”, Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures for the accelerated development of the tourism industry” and Decree of the President of Uzbekistan “On measures for the further development of the tourism sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

In Uzbekistan, for the first time, the Tourism Development Concept for 2019-2025 was approved, in accordance with which the main directions of tourism development until 2025 are determined and, most importantly, the industry targets are determined. As a result of the implementation of practical measures based on the results of 8 months of 2019, more than 4.3 million foreign tourists visited the republic. This is 26.7 percent more than for the same period last year (3.4 million tourists). According to the results of the export of tourist services amounted to 854.5 million dollars. Compared to the same period of last year (US$666.8 million), the export of tourism services increased by 28 percent. By the end of 2019, it is expected that more than 6.5 million foreign tourists will visit the republic, which is 15% more than last year (5.3 million).

The plenary session was addressed by the acting Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Akkulov, Advisor to the Chairman Sadik Badak, Head of Department Anvar Allaberganov.

The Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, representatives of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heads of tourism companies and hotels, and representatives of several foreign universities also took part in the meeting. The conference participants discussed current problems of the tourism industry and the service sector, mechanisms and forms of modernization of tourism services, science and production, issues of training highly qualified, competitive personnel based on standards of the tourism industry.

The issues of introducing new technologies into tourism education and production, etc. were examined. During the conference, an active and fruitful exchange of views took place between conference participants on various aspects of the tourism business development and prospects for its use in the context of globalization of the world economy. "According to the Decree of August 13, the Institute for the Development of Tourism was created under the Committee.

The institute is engaged in research activities in the field of tourism, the development and implementation of new educational programs and training forms, the organization of retraining and advanced training of personnel, the issuance of qualification certificates for guides, guides based on a unified testing system in the country. In accordance with the Decree of the President “On additional measures to further improve the vocational education system”, signed on September 6 this year, 12 professional colleges of the country were transferred to the Committee system. Of these, 9 are educational institutions that train personnel at the stage of secondary vocational education, and 3 are technical colleges at a higher educational institution. Every year about 2500-3000 students in tourism and service study at these colleges, starting in 2020, these educational institutions will begin to work on the basis of updated curricula," Abdulaziz Akkulov said.
